Man arrested after punching and kicking a woman and pulling a knife on an officer

A man was arrested in Georgetown on Wednesday afternoon after he attacked and kicked a woman and then pulled a knife on an officer.

A 911 caller reported a man assaulting a woman in the 500 block of South Michigan Street about 10:45 a.m. Community members hailed down an officer driving through the neighbourhood about the same occurrence. Witnesses identified the culprit, and the police pursued him down the street. When the police stepped out of his vehicle, the man began running and refused to stop despite the officer’s commands to do so.

As the police pursued the suspect, the man abruptly turned to confront the officer, holding a knife. When the officer pulled his weapon, the suspect dropped the knife. The individual was then handcuffed and apprehended by the police.

Other police who arrived on the scene talked with witnesses and the assault victim, who indicated that the suspect hit her in the face many times and kicked her after she went to the ground. The person was sent to Harborview Medical Center for treatment by private ambulance.

The suspect’s knife was recovered as evidence, and he was taken into King County Jail for the domestic violence-related assault and felony-level threats to the officer.
