Tshegofatso Mabasa, a striker for Sekhukhune United, has disclosed his ONE and ONLY disappointment from his two years at Orlando Pirates.
Mabasa has been assigned to Babina Noko on loan for the upcoming season after the new Bucs technical team determined that he was no longer needed.
And this despite his not terrible goal scoring record while wearing the Pirates’ jersey after moving there from Bloemfontein Celtic in 2019.
Mabasa, 25, stated he was dissatisfied with the amount of playing time he received at Pirates and believed he would play for the Soweto giants in the future.
But because Pirates played so many games in all competitions, he feels that past season was a letdown in terms of his lack of playing time.
With 18 goals in 68 games, the left-footed center-forward departed Pirates on loan. His contract with Pirates expires in June 2023, thus it is unclear if he will return to Mayfair.
Mabasa told Soccer Laduma:
“I still thought I’ve got plenty of years to go at the club and that I still had a lot to give, given the chance to. I’m happy with my contribution during the first season and obviously disappointed with how last season panned out.
“The lack of opportunities to play last season… that’s pretty much the only thing I can say is bugging me from my time at Pirates. I wouldn’t sup up my time at Pirates as a failure, not at all. Personally, perhaps a bit disappointed with how it turned out, but I wouldn’t say I let myself down in any way.
“I did the best that I could given everything that was happening around me and the team. I honestly tried my best, and that’s what I’ve always strived to do for whichever team I’ve turned out for”.
