L’vovo Derrango hospitalised after having mild stroke

The award-winning musician Thokozani Siphamandla Ndlovu, well known by his stage name L’vovo Derrango, has been hospitalized after suffering a small stroke.

Friday, the musician suffered a small stroke during his performance at Indwedwe in Durban, according to a statement from Derrango Records, a record label based in Durban.

Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo, L’vovo’s industry partner and fellow Gqom musician, passed away after having a small stroke following a performance one week prior to L’vovo’s stroke.

“He has been admitted to the hospital for medical care and is responding exceptionally well. Please keep him in your prayers, and we are convinced that he will emerge from this tough situation even stronger,” the message reads.

L’vovo was involved in a head-on collision in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, earlier this year. He sustained a hip injury and spent months learning to walk independently after the tragedy.

The news of L’vovo’s stroke came a day after the death of his Gqom singer and industry colleague Mampintsha, who suffered a mild stroke a week earlier.
