The Dallas Zoo was closed on Friday as police assisted in the hunt for a missing clouded leopard, which authorities characterized as being non-dangerous and most likely hidden someplace on the zoo grounds.

According to Harrison Edell, senior vice president of animal care and conservation at the Dallas Zoo, the little cat, called Nova, weighs between 20 and 25 pounds. The biggest zoo in Texas was searched by searching the trees, which Edell said clouded leopards prefer to climb.

The missing cat, called Nova, was described as a “serious matter” by the zoo in a tweet, but Edell maintained that the animal presented no harm to people.

Edell said, “If anything, she’s very anxious and terrified of people.”

He omitted to mention how the animal got out of its pen. Nova’s sister, a clouded leopard in the zoo, was still in its enclosure, according to Edell.

The Dallas Zoo has had animal escapes from its cages. The most notable incident occurred in 2004, when Jabari, a 340-pound gorilla, leaped over a wall and went on a 40-minute rampage, injuring three people before being shot and killed by police.
