Lorraine Kelly chats with Jill Scott about Soccer Aid and encourages girls

During her show on Thursday, March 9, Lorraine Kelly encountered a segment with Jill Scott that didn’t go as planned. Jill joined Lorraine to discuss Soccer Aid, encouraging girls to play football, and her time on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

As they discussed the past few Soccer Aid events, Lorraine challenged Jill to a penalty shoot out while wearing high heels. However, before they began, Lorraine discovered that the goalie gloves she had been given still had the security tag on them, which made her laugh.

Despite struggling to put the gloves on, she managed to prepare for Jill’s aim, saving a few of the footballs from going in the goal. At the end of the segment, Lorraine suggested that they return the gloves to the shop due to the security tag still being attached.

Earlier in the interview, Jill spoke passionately about encouraging girls to play sports like football, having support to do so, and having female role models in all walks of life.

In response to Lorraine’s comment about the first female manager of a male team likely having a “tough time,” Jill expressed that by being visible in a male-dominated industry, they are doing an excellent job, and as soon as the first female makes a breakthrough, young girls will have another dream.

They may not be good footballers, but they can be a female physio, female manager, and think, “I can do that.”

Lorraine airs on ITV every weekday at 9 am.
