Justin Bieber revealed he has RHS on Friday

The famous musician Justin Bieber revealed on Friday that he had Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a rare neurological condition.

In a video uploaded to Instagram, Bieber explained, “It’s because this virus affects the nerves in my ear, my facial nerves, and has caused my face to have paralysis.”

As a result, the 28-year-old rapper had to postpone three dates this week on his Justice World Tour. My body is obviously telling me to slow down, he remarked.

Bieber pointed to the features that hardly moved as he tried to blink and smile and added, “As you can see, this eye is not blinking, I can’t smile on this side of my face, and this nostril will not move.”

The American neurologist who first recognised Ramsay Hunt syndrome in the early 20th century gave it his name.

The American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery says that the virus that causes both chickenpox and shingles, varicella zoster, is to blame.

It is also unusual. The National Organization for Rare Disorders estimates that only five persons out of every 100,000 people get Ramsay Hunt each year.

According to the Mayo Clinic, it can happen to anyone who has had chickenpox and is brought on by a shingles epidemic. It can result in both a rash around one ear and facial paralysis, as is reportedly the case with Bieber. Vertigo and hearing loss are some more signs.

According to data from the Mount Sinai Health System, healing often happens within a few weeks, depending on the severity of the nerve damage. Anti-inflammatory and antiviral drugs including prednisone, acyclovir, and valacyclovir are examples of treatment possibilities.

According to the Mayo Clinic, it can result in severe cases of permanent hearing loss and visual damage.

Bieber appeared upbeat in his Instagram video regarding his recovery.

He declared, “I’m going to get better. “I’m performing all of these facial workouts to restore the appearance of my face. And in time, everything will return to normal. Although the length of time is unknown, everything will be fine.”
