Rogan hosts a special segment on his podcast called “Protect Our Parks” where he and his guests talk about various topics.
During the seventh episode of this segment, Rogan was joined by Ari Shaffir, Mark Normand, and Shane Gillis, and they discussed the association between China and pandas in the United States’ zoos.
Rogan then made a joke about the bald eagle being a “soulless, evil creature that likes to eat dead fish.” Gillis responded by suggesting that Benjamin Franklin was right and that America should have had a turkey as its national animal instead.
Twitter users criticized Rogan’s comments, and some accused him of being a “boorish ignorant American caucasian male.”
Rogan has been making controversial statements on his podcast lately, including jokes about Democrats and criticisms of former CNN host Brian Stelter.
He was also accused of casually spouting anti-Semitism after defending Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.
