During his monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night (Feb. 15), late night host Jimmy Kimmel roasted his usual targets, including Donald Trump and Donald Trump Jr. However, during a segment about newly-elected New York Congressman George Santos, Kimmel told a joke that elicited groans rather than laughter.
Kimmel was discussing the 2017 allegations that Santos kidnapped Golden Retriever puppies from an Amish dog breeder in Pennsylvania, one of the numerous controversies in which Santos has been embroiled. Santos is accused of writing over $15,000 in bad checks to the breeder, all of which bounced.
Kimmel began by making a joke: “Amish puppy theft? This could be the greatest crime ever committed. The eighteenth century
Yet, as Kimmel continued, he stated, “There you have it, George Santos is now No. 2 on the Amish enemies list, just below electricity.” The crucial question is what he did with the puppies. I mean, is this the material for his sweater vests?”
A shot of Santos wearing a furry vest then came on-screen, evoking groans from the entire audience, who clearly did not want to think about these terrible pups being killed by Santos and made into a bro vest.
“Don’t worry, guys, it’s just a joke,” he continued, realizing that dead dog fur is the one uniting topic that people from all walks of life cannot tolerate.
Meanwhile, George Santos is likely attempting to validate a 23andMe test that links him to Cruella De Vil, as Kimmel may be onto something.
