James Scully knows why so many people have a love on Penn Badgley, his co-star on “You.”
The actor, who portrays Forty Quinn in Season 2 of the blockbuster Netflix series, gushed to Page Six at the Gotham Awards, “I spent many days with him for six months, and every time I stepped into the hair and makeup trailer and saw him, I would just sigh longingly.”
“I understand,” he concluded. “I understand.”
Scully, 30, did express sympathy for the “Gossip Girl” alum, Badgley, 36, who has had to explain why people should not idolize a vicious serial murderer.
Scully continued, “I really felt awful for Penn because he was like, ‘That’s meant to be the opposite.’”
“He is performing all of this labor, and I believe he is very aware of the example he is establishing for young guys. He is rather keen to stress that this is unacceptable behavior.”
In the smash Netflix series “You,” Penn Badgley portrays an endearing serial murderer.
However, he acknowledges that Badgley’s appeal is precisely why producers chose him to play the evil killer.
He countered, “That’s why they hired him.” This individual can sell to us.
Netflix just revealed two debut dates for the psychological thriller/dark comedy series’ fourth season. The first half of the season will premiere on the streaming service on February 10, followed by the second half one month later on March 10.
In the meanwhile, Scully’s career is thriving with a role in the ensemble homosexual romantic comedy “Fire Island.”
The openly homosexual actor, who grew up in Texas, said to Page Six that he believed he would have to remain closeted and marry a lady from his hometown.

“I haven’t felt that way for quite some time,” he said, “but I did when I was younger.”
“When I was in middle school and early high school, I thought, ‘I just need to find a lady who is really kind and patient, and we’ll work it out. “I’m incredibly fortunate that didn’t happen!”
