The pair reportedly explored the possibility of collaborating on a future musical collaboration. Bantwini’s ambitions to host Malone in an upcoming South African show were also brought up in the course of their conversation.
This is not Malone’s first visit to the country; in 2019, he performed at The Dome for Castle Lite Unlocks.
Bantwini is coming off the most successful year of his twenty-year career, and his hit single Osama will inject new energy into the dance music icon’s career towards the end of 2021.
Bantwini has been ascending the success ladder and reestablishing himself as a formidable opponent.
He was recently named Musician of the Year at GQ’s Men of the Year Awards. Prior to that, he won a South African Social Media Award for Best Viral Hit, as well as two South African Music Awards for Highest Airplay and Best Collaboration.
On January 1, 2023, he joined forces with Ballito Big Week to host the sold-out Zakes Bantwini Homecoming Picnic in Durban. He will fly to the United States at the end of January for the Grammy Awards, where he is nominated for Bayethe along with Wouter Kellerman and Nomcebo Zikode.
This year, Bantwini is anticipated to complete his final studio album before retiring.
