The absurd moment a New York City influencer purposefully laid between subway tracks as a train passed over him was captured on video.
The anonymous influencer is one of several on the irregular ‘entertainment’-filled @pleasedontlack0 Instagram profile, which identifies itself as a media news organization and appears to gather web videos and articles for its over 36,000 followers.
A filmmaker told the influencer laying on the railway tracks, “Bro, there’s mad space,” while measuring the distance between his friend’s shoulder and the rail with his hand. “You’re chilling dude, there’s a ton of space” Under his anxiety-filled mask, the influencer on the railroad tracks murmured, “I’m simply paranoid about this.”
A few seconds later, the camera feed switches to the influencer’s head camera, and he can be seen slightly shivering as the train passes over him.
The MTA, which warns against trespassing on railways, considers the stunt to be unlawful. Observers on social media were nearly as worried as the influencer himself as he risked his life.
“This increased me anxiety,” one Instagram user remarked.
Another remarked, “These are the types of folks that believe others are laughing with them.”
The video was reposted by the Twitter feed Crime in NYC, which is committed to highlighting chaotic events in New York City.
More than 3,000 viewers have viewed the disruptive stunt, which highlighted the younger generation’s craving for attention and the deterioration of New York City.
“This generation is all about myself,” claimed one author. They are all in dire need of assistance.
Another wrote, “Between crime and idiots like this guy, the city is fading too quickly.”
Another individual was more concerned about commuters arriving late to work.
If the train had directly struck this man, it would have been quite terrible, primarily since it would have caused commuter delays.
The original Instagram page for the influencer, @ pleasedontlack_, seems to have been disabled at 53,000 followers. In the interim, the recreated Instagram account with 36,000 followers has a backup account with 12,000 followers.
It appears that influencers must include the phrase “this post follows all community guidelines” on every post to avoid having their content penalized.
The New York Police Department did not immediately respond to a question regarding the stunt.
He was fortunate not to hit the electrified third rail, which may have killed him.
