India bowls first ODI against Proteas

Shikhar Dhawan, the captain of India, won the toss and chose to field against South Africa on Thursday for the first game of their postponed one-day international series.

At the commencement of the three-match series in Lucknow, which has been reduced to 40 overs-a-side, the hosts gave Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravi Bishnoi their ODI debuts.

We aim to take advantage of the wicket’s little wetness, according to Dhawan. Six batsmen and five bowlers are in the game.

India is playing with its backup squad after Rohit Sharma and his Twenty20 team departed for the World Cup in Australia, which starts later this month.

South Africa, who lost the T20 series 2-1, is now represented by Janneman Malan, Heinrich Klaasen, and Tabraiz Shamsi.

“We also like to start the game with bowling. After the first few overs, we have a job to do with the bat and need to adjust appropriately,” Temba Bavuma, the captain, remarked.

“You need to be able to switch between formats rapidly, and we still want to test your T20 abilities. For us, every game is a significant chance.”
