Former pupils from Kalamunda Senior High School, located east of Perth, published the principal’s letter from the school yearbook from 1984 on a Facebook page.

The letter writer quoted George Orwell’s dystopian book 1984, saying some of its ‘frightening prospects’ have materialized. That book was released in 1948.

The author said, “We are living in hazardous times.”

Another person said, “He might be describing today quite correctly.”

Imagine what he would have written if he had believed that the 1980s were a hazardous decade, a third person said.
