California nightmare: Youngkin called the law an 'effort to turn Virginia into California'

California Governor Gavin Newsom pushed for the standards as an effort to combat climate change

The California Air Resources Board has mandated that all new automobiles, SUVs, and pickups be electric or hydrogen-powered by 2035.

Initiative aims to halve emissions by 2040

The size of California’s market has a tremendous impact on automakers.

Under the administration of Democrat Ralph Northam, Virginia passed a statute connecting Virginia to California standards.
On Twitter, Republican Governor Youngkin criticized the action.

Virginia’s governor, Glen Youngkin, a Republican, criticized California’s decision to restrict the sale of gas-powered automobiles by 2035 and fumed that his state is tied to California’s emissions regulations by law.

On Twitter, the governor, who took office earlier this year and is occasionally considered as a potential Republican presidential candidate and alternative to former president Donald Trump, criticized California’s regulation decision.

He also criticized the legislators of his own state for joining the two states.

Youngkin added, “In an effort to transform Virginia into California, liberal politicians who formerly dominated our government betrayed Virginia by submitting Virginia drivers to California’s car regulations.”

Under the terms of this agreement, Virginians will be required to accept California’s ban on the sale of gas- and diesel-powered automobiles.

I am already working to prevent Virginians from being forced to comply with this foolish mandate. The outmoded laws of California have no place in our Commonwealth,’ he added.

He included a link to an Associated Press article that detailed efforts to have Virginia adopt California’s pollution regulations at a period when the state was governed by a Democratic majority.

The article included a declaration from House Speaker Todd Gilbert waving the flag of the commonwealth and proclaiming independence from the state of California.

Youngkin described the bill as an attempt to transform Virginia into California.

Governor Gavin Newsom of California campaigned for the standards to tackle climate change.

Changes will necessitate a significant expansion in charging stations

Existing gas cards would remain legal and the used car industry would continue even after the manufacture ban is implemented.

‘House Republicans will introduce legislation in 2023 to return control of Virginia’s auto emission regulations and automotive market to Virginians. Virginia is not California, nor should it be, he stated.

The California Air Resources Board has mandated that all new automobiles, trucks, and SUVs sold in the state must be powered by electricity or hydrogen by 2035.

It would let 25% of vehicles to be plug-in hybrids. Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom, a likely presidential candidate, advocated for the 2035 deadline.

The board stated that by the time a child born this year is ready to join middle school, only zero-emission automobiles or a limited number of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) will be available for sale in California.

Hybrids and electric vehicles are already being purchased by consumers, but charging stations are in short supply, and automakers are hurrying to retool and obtain control of raw materials and parts to facilitate the transition to battery power.

The regulations will not prohibit existing gas-powered vehicles or harm the used car industry.

Virginia is one of 17 states that follow California’s emission rules in whole or in part, and its move in 2021 has been hailed as a success in the fight against climate change.

AP stated that Walton Shepherd, policy director for the Natural Resources Defense Council in Virginia, termed the 2021 law the “single largest climate measure” the state has made, with transportation accounting for the majority of the state’s carbon emissions.

Youngkin won the election by utilizing covid response rules and Critical Race Theory against the Democrats.
