Global NCAP and the Automobile Association of South Africa (AA) will announce the final test results for the #SaferCarsForAfrica campaign

Today, June 30, Global NCAP and the Automobile Association of South Africa (AA) will announce the final test results for the #SaferCarsForAfrica campaign conducted in accordance with the current test standards, with the grateful assistance of Bloomberg Philanthropies and the FIA Foundation.

The standards for side-impact, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and pedestrian protection will be added to the assessment processes starting the next month.

India-made Maruti Suzuki S-Presso received three ratings for protecting adult occupants and two stars for protecting children. Global NCAP had already tested the car in 2020 for the Indian market.

For adult occupant protection, it received a score of 0, while for child occupant protection, it received a score of 2.

Global NCAP decided to investigate the accusations after hearing that the version of the car sold in South Africa performed better in terms of safety.

In South Africa, the S-Presso is equipped with two airbags as standard. The S-Presso was used in the evaluation.
