Automobile Association (AA) in South Africa launches an innovative service with independent vehicle dealerships and AA Approved workshops across the country

To provide consumers with credible information on pre-owned vehicles they intend to purchase, the Automobile Association (AA) launched an innovative service in collaboration with independent vehicle dealerships and AA Approved workshops across the country.

Dealerships can use the service to perform an AA 125-point inspection on vehicles and provide prospective buyers with a comprehensive report on the vehicle.

Customers in South Africa will be able to use this service at any dealership that displays the AA Certified Pre-Owned logo.

“In developing this product and service, the AA along with our brand partner AA Warranties, recognised that we can offer support to independent dealerships while providing the motoring public a valuable and credible service that enhances the selling and purchasing experience,” says Willem Groenewald, AA CEO.

Importantly, the inspection process does not provide a “pass” or “fail” rating for a vehicle. Instead, it provides a report outlining the “facts” of the vehicle at the time of inspection.

“This is an important distinction because the report is not intended to favour anyone; it’s simply giving a true, unbiased reflection of the vehicle at the time of inspection. This is a powerful tool for both sellers and buyers as it removes any doubts about the vehicle’s condition,” says Willem.

Auto King in Milnerton, Cape Town, sold the first vehicle after an AA Certified Pre-Owned inspection last week. Les Herring, Dealer Principal at Auto King, says it was an easy decision to offer the AA Certified Pre-Owned inspection.

“The AA is a long-established, trusted, and credible brand, and being associated with it is powerful for my own brand. This service adds immense value to my customers, and I believe it will benefit my business greatly in the long-run,” says Les.

Concerning the AA Certified Pre-Owned accreditation, the AA has been in contact with independent dealerships across the country. The goal is to have at least 150 dealerships in South Africa offering the service within the next two years.
