INGREDIENTS

  • ½ cup apricot jam

  • ½ cup butter, softened

  • ½ cup milk

  • 2 tsp baking soda

  •  cup flour

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 tsp ground ginger

  • ½ tsp salt

  • Sauce
  • 4 cups water

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 tsp ground ginger

METHOD

  • Boil the jam and margarine together.
  • Dissolve the baking soda in the milk and add to jam and margarine. Remove from the heat.
  • Stir in the flour, cinnamon, ginger and salt gradually.
  • Syrup
  • Make the syrup in a saucepan and heat it until it starts to boil.
  • Add spoonful of the dough into the boiling syrup. Cover and let it cook slowly on a low heat until the dough is cooked and the syrup is thick and tasty.
  • Serve with ice cream or custard.
