Only weeks after arriving at the Florida prison where she is serving out a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking, Ghislaine Maxwell found herself a comfortable job working in the legal library.
To the dismay of the pedophile’s cellmates, Maxwell’s library job might prevent her from performing dishonourable cooking and cleaning tasks that other inmates are made to endure, like Andy Dufresne, the protagonist of The Shawshank Redemption.
According to one inmate quoted by the Mirror, “There are girls inside who have washed thousands of floors, peeled thousands of vegetables, done all manner of things, including keeping their noses clean, hoping for such a gig,” “Yet Ghislaine is gifted it.”
The leadership at the low security FCI Prison in Tallahassee, where Maxwell, 60, is currently incarcerated, reportedly gave her the position.
According to the Mirror, the job has a Monday through Friday schedule and gives her plenty of time to interact with other prisoners if she so chooses.
The insider told the Mirror that “they joke she pulled a Shawshank Redemption and landed on her feet with her library gig.”
The similarities stop there, despite The Shawshank Redemption being about a former wealthy banker who uses his cunning to make the most of his prison sentence.
Maxwell is notoriously guilty of aiding prolific sex trafficker Jefferey Epstein and even participating in his sexual abuse of underage children, in contrast to the fictional Dufresne, who was innocent.

The news comes after reports that Narcy Novack, a notorious double murderer, is Maxwell’s closest friend in prison.
The two are said to talk, laugh, and joke around for extended periods of time.
After being found guilty of planning the beating deaths of her mother-in-law and millionaire husband, Novack was sentenced to prison in 2012.
Upon entering, Ghislaine was drawn to Narcy. She is treated like a female don because of how long she has been imprisoned and how brutal her crime was, a source told The Mirror.
Because of her friendship, Ghislaine will have some measure of security, but given their similar ages and millionaire upbringings, they were destined to get along.
In December 2021, Maxwell was found guilty. She said at her sentence in June of last year that she wished to “acknowledge” the suffering of her victims but refrained from offering an apology.
Maxwell’s actions were described as “heinous and prefatory” by Judge Alison Nathan, who then imposed a 240-month sentence with five years of post-release supervision.
Additionally, she issued a $750,000 punishment while noting that Maxwell had received a $10 million bequest from Epstein upon his death.
Judge Nathan emphasised that the case required a “very large sentence” that communicated a “unmistakable message” that such crimes would be punished, saying that “Ms. Maxwell cooperated with Epstein to choose young victims who were vulnerable and played a crucial part in enabling sexual abuse.”
Maxwell expressed regret for her behaviour in a public speech before being sentenced.
I understand that I have been found guilty of aiding Jeffrey Epstein in committing these crimes, she said. “My relationship with Epstein will forever tarnish me.” The fact that I ever met him is the worst regret of my life.
