Early Saturday morning, disgraced New York Republican George Santos, who faces at least three criminal investigations, was sworn into Congress.
Santos stood next to Reps. Matt Gaetz and Lauren Boebert with his right hand up as he and other members of the 118th Congress were sworn in by newly-elected House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
The Queens and Long Island representative’s oath of office was delayed by several days due to Republican stalemate over the choice of a House speaker.
As is typical following the actual oath of office, it is unclear when Santos will appear for his ceremonial photo with Speaker McCarthy.
Now that Santos is legally the representative for New York’s 3rd Congressional District, House members have the authority to remove him from office.
The House can impeach Santos with a two-thirds majority vote.
At present, Santos is the subject of at least three criminal investigations.
According to reports, federal investigators in the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York are investigating the finances of the liar congressman, whose unusual riches has raised doubts.

In 2020, Santos declared a yearly salary of $55,000, and according to his records, he loaned his winning House campaign for New York’s 3rd Congressional District about $700,000.
Santos is also the subject of an investigation by the state of New York, and Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly indicated last month that her office would also investigate Santos after he admitted to The Post that he had lied about practically his entire CV.

In his first few days in the Capitol Building, the majority of lawmakers have given Santos the cold shoulder. He has been observed sitting alone and interacting with his new coworkers infrequently.
Santos has avoided being in the chamber longer than necessary, simply slipping in to cast his support for McCarthy as House speaker.
Nearly all inquiries from reporters who have trailed him throughout the Capitol complex have been avoided.
Representatives are attempting to choose who will become the next Speaker of the House on January 5, 2023. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia laughs with Representative Santos.
On Thursday, it appeared that he may have befriended controversial Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.). On the House floor, the two were observed whispering to one another and giggling at one another’s remarks.
However, one member of the New York congressional delegation has already demanded his resignation.
“Brazilian authorities are restarting the fraud-related criminal case against George Santos. Santos is currently being pursued by local, state, national, and international authorities. Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.) remarked on Monday that Santos should quit before he further disgraces himself.
Santos has hired Viswanag “Vish” Burra, a political operative with ties to former White House strategist Steve Bannon and businessman Carl Paladino, during his brief time on Capitol Hill as opposed to contemplating his resignation.
Santos has also hired former campaign manager Charles Lovett, a former campaign aide to controversial ex-U.S. Senate candidate Josh Mandel, and Gabby Lipsky as a spokeswoman, alongside other low-profile recruits.
