Saturday Night Live swiftly combined two of the nation’s hottest subjects. Saturday: the NFL playoffs and the history of Representative George Santos as a drag queen.
Bowen Yang portrayed the troubled congressman in the opening sketch, in which the liar strolled onto a football field in a glamorous red dress and black wig, similar to the one Santos was supposedly spotted wearing at the 2005 Brazil pride parade, to serve as a news correspondent.
Mikey Day, who portrayed a Fox NFL anchor, addressed him as “George” and instructed him to off the screen.
“I’m not George, I’m Kitara Ravache,” Yang stated, citing the supposed drag name Santos employed in Brazil.
In lieu of football statistics, Yang listed the politician’s supposed drag queen record, which included dance routines such as death drops and duck walks.
“I also received the award for the tightest tuck,” added Yang with a cheeky smile.
Yang, masquerading as Santos, then danced to the NFL theme song, claiming that he was permitted to do so since his mother “died twice on 9/11,” a direct reference to one of Santos’ numerous lies. The Republican claimed his mother died in the collapse of the Twin Towers, however she was in Brazil at the time and lived until 2016.
Santos ultimately confirmed on Saturday, just hours before the skit comedy show’s launch, that he had donned a female costume, but claimed it was a one-time stunt.
“No, gentlemen, I was not a drag queen in Brazil. When I was young, I enjoyed myself at a festival. “Sue me for having a life,” the openly gay congressman stated a week after the photo was originally published.
Yang resumed her role as Santos on the show’s Weekend Update, but eschewed the dress in favor of the politician’s signature sweater and blazer.
Host Colin Jost interrogated Yang on the multitude of lies that have been discovered in the very short weeks since he assumed office, including claims that he attended New York University, is Jewish, and worked for Goldman Sachs.
Yang responded, “No, I filled the gold man Sachs.”
During the interview, Yang claimed Madonna called him, his grandparents urged Anne Frank to keep a diary during the Holocaust, and his great-grand uncle was Rasputin.
“That’s impossible, George. “People must know who you are,” stated Jost.
“Okay, well I’m George Santos, Miss Devolder if you’re being nasty,” Yang remarked in reference to an identity Santos was captured on film using while attending an LBGT panel in New York City in 2019.

SNL
Jost eventually asked Yang directly whether he was physically incapable of telling the truth.
Yang first resisted, claiming he had evidence that SNL required him to take a lie detector exam before appearing on the show. When he grabbed for his pocket, he pulled out a Covid-19 quick test instead.
The mimic of Santos then said that he tells so many lies because he is a “team player” and because “the sport is lies.”
“At least mine are fun!” Yang stated. “In the meantime, Marjorie Taylor Green is claiming that 9/11 did not occur. I just claimed that happened to me!”
