George Alan Kelly is out of custody

George Alan Kelly, an Arizona rancher, has been released from custody on a $1m surety bond secured by his ranch, after being charged with the murder of a Mexican migrant.

He is accused of shooting Gabriel Cuen-Butimea on his land on 30 January.

Kelly claimed he fired warning shots at Cuen-Butimea and eight other men running through his land, believing them to be drug runners.

He says he wanted to scare them away but took care not to shoot directly at them.

He has been backed by several hundred thousand dollars raised on GiveSendGo, a Christian alternative to GoFundMe after fundraisers were removed from the latter platform.
