Gemma Owen’s dad Michael Owen spends quality time with his youngest daughter and responds Gemma’s Critics

While Gemma Owen s gettng ready to see her ex-boyfriend Jacques O’Neill tonight, Michael Owen has been spending some quality time with his youngest daughter.

As he stood next to his daughter Jess, 12, who was seated on her horse Jigsaw, the former England star exuded confidence pride.

Michael tweeted the sweet photo only hours before Gemma’s reunion with old flame Jacques on Sunday night’s Love Island.

‘While the eldest is away, my youngest is progressing well on her pride and joy, Jigsaw🧩. Well done @jess_0wen🥰,’ he captioned the adorable photo.

Now that Jacques is in the Majorcan villa, Gemma’s ex-boyfriend Jacques is expected to disclose that she is the daughter of football legend Michael.

Gemma, 19, has been trying hard not to reveal who her father is to her other contestants, but she has come dangerously near to telling on multiple occasions.

Since the start of Love Island season six earlier this month, the singleton has faced a barrage of criticism, with many claiming she is too young to be on a reality dating show after being coupled up with David Sancilmenti who is 27 years old.

Despite the backlash, Michael has defended his daughter, describing her as “mature” and pointing out that he was also in the public eye when he was younger during his football career.

He said, ‘She has had two years more than I had to get ready for life in the public eye’.

He told the Daily Mail that ‘The bottom line is, she’s an adult and I have to trust her to make sensible decisions’.

Love Island airs tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
