Gayton McKenzie Predicts Thabo Bester’s Death in Prison

…Researched and contributed by Solomon Thomas.

Patriotic Alliance (PA) leader Gayton McKenzie has reiterated his belief that Thabo Bester, also known as the Facebook rapist, will soon be killed in prison.

McKenzie’s comments came after Bester appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 14 April 2023, where he expressed concern about his safety and claimed he had not eaten since being returned to the Mangaung Correctional Centre.

McKenzie, a former prisoner himself, tweeted that “Thabo Bester is already a dead man” and predicted that he would be stabbed by a prisoner as he is seen as a walking ATM for the 26 gang.

McKenzie also implied that Bester’s death would be the result of a hit issued by the numbers gang, which is known for its involvement in organized crime.

Background of the Case

Bester and his fugitive lover, Dr. Nandipha Magudumana, were caught in Tanzania by South African law enforcement officials in April 2023, after they went on the run since late March 2023.

They were brought back to South Africa, where Bester was returned to prison to await trial.

Bester had previously escaped from the Mangaung Correctional Centre in May 2023 by faking his death in a cell fire meant to look like a suicide.

Implications of McKenzie’s Statement

McKenzie’s statement has raised concerns about the safety and security of prisoners in South Africa’s correctional facilities.

While some may view his statement as a mere prediction, others may interpret it as a call for violence against Bester.

It also highlights the dangers of prison gangs and their influence in South Africa’s correctional facilities.

Conclusion

Gayton McKenzie’s statement regarding Thabo Bester’s fate has sparked controversy and raised concerns about the safety of prisoners in South Africa’s correctional facilities.

It is important that the South African government takes steps to ensure the safety and security of all prisoners, including those who may be at risk of gang violence or other forms of harm.
