South African Minister of Home Affairs, Aaron Motsoaledi, will hold a briefing on Friday, April 14th, to discuss aspects related to Thabo Bester and his accomplice, Dr Nandipha Magudumana.

The briefing will cover topics such as identification and documentation.

This comes after Bester and Magudumana were arrested in Tanzania and deported back to South Africa on Thursday, April 13th, after being on the run.

According to Police Minister Bheki Cele, the two were found with multiple unstamped passports just 10km away from the border, and it is believed they were heading to Kenya.

In a separate matter, Magudumana appeared before the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court on Thursday alongside Teboho Lipholo, a technician contracted at the Mangaung Correctional Centre, where Bester escaped.

The state requested that the matter be postponed to Monday, April 17th, so the accused, who did not plead, can appear alongside accused 1 and 2 in the matter, which is Magudumana’s father, Zolile Cornelius Sekeleni, and former G4S guard Senohe Ishmael Matsoara.

Sekeleni and Matsoara were charged with arson, fraud, defeating the ends of justice, and murder.

National police commissioner General Fannie Masemola said earlier that Magudumana will be facing charges related to aiding and abetting the escape of Bester, as well as murder for a number of bodies that were found in her possession, violation of bodies, and fraud charges.

Further updates on the case will be provided during the briefing on Friday.
