Garrett Wilson of the Jets claims an official sent him a “crazy” message following a contentious call

There have been flags galore in the NFL this season, but Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson wonders where his might have been Sunday in a rough rivalry game against the Bills.

One day after the Jets’ 20-12 loss to their division opponent, the rookie responded to a Twitter video uploaded by a fan in which the 22-year-old wide receiver seemed to be hit out of bounds by a Buffalo defender.

When a referee told me this at my first Patriots home game, I cannot recall his field number.

On December 11, 2022, Garrett Wilson (17) of the Jets seemed to be hit late by a Buffalo defender.

“I haven’t received a call all season… One official informed me, “This is no longer Ohio State.” “Absurd,” Wilson wrote on Monday morning.

Though Wilson did not mention the official in question, he noted in a follow-up message that the claimed exchange took happened versus another division foe earlier this season.

“First patriots game @ home was when a ref told me this I forget his field number,” he claimed.

Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (17) breaks away from Bills cornerback Dane Jackson (30) on Dec. 11, 2022.

Wilson, the 10th overall choice in this year’s NFL draft, had six receptions for 78 yards in Sunday’s injury-riddled showdown. The Ohio State graduate has amassed 63 receptions for 868 yards and four touchdowns in 13 games this season.

The Jets, who now stand at 7-6, will face the suddenly resurgent Lions at MetLife Stadium next week. Head coach Robert Saleh announced Monday that both quarterback Mike White and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams are day-to-day after each suffered injuries versus the Bills.
