A Jet2 passenger has died on a flight from Antalya, Turkey to Glasgow, Scotland, prompting an emergency landing.
The 44-year-old man passed away mid-air despite the efforts of cabin crew who performed CPR on him for 40 minutes.
The pilot requested an emergency priority landing to ground the plane ahead of other aircraft in the queue.
Upon arrival, the man was pronounced dead and a report was submitted to Scotland’s death investigation authority, the Procurator Fiscal.
According to a witness on the plane, cabin crew rushed to the man’s aid while the plane was still mid-air, trying to resuscitate him in the aisle.
The passenger reported that the staff continued their efforts to revive the man during the emergency landing, while other passengers were visibly upset and shaken by the incident.
The airline, Jet2, confirmed the news in a statement, expressing their condolences to the customer’s family and friends.
Police Scotland also released a statement, saying they were made aware of the incident and would be submitting a report to the Procurator Fiscal.
The unnamed passenger who witnessed the tragedy praised the professionalism of the Jet2 staff, who remained respectful and compassionate throughout the ordeal.
