Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex’s Plane makes an emergency landing

A jet transporting Prince Edward and his wife Sophie to Gibraltar was forced to make an emergency landing, according to reports.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex were on their way to a visit to a British overseas territory when their British Airways flight was forced to return to London due to technical difficulties.

The plane was scheduled to land later today afternoon, just in time for Edward and his wife Sophie to take a stroll down Gibraltar’s Main Street.

GBC News, Gibraltar’s major broadcaster, announced the news via a tweet.

‘BA Press Office tells GBC that due to a minor technical issue, pilots on flight 490 opted to return to Heathrow as a precaution, and the aircraft landed normally,’ it stated.

‘It is arranging for a substitute aircraft to conduct the flight and appreciates the clients’ patience,’ said the company.

In March, the Earl and Countess of Wessex confirmed their visit to Gibraltar.

Spain, which has claimed Gibraltar for many years, is alleged to have objected to the visit.
