Five young people are involved in a crash in South Wales

Five young people were involved in a crash in South Wales, which killed three and seriously injured two others.

One of the clubbers, believed to be Rafel Jeanne, is thought to be the son of former Cardiff City and QPR footballer Leon Jeanne. Leon was once dubbed Wales’ most promising footballer before turning to crime after his addiction to cocaine.

Rafel and his friends had last been seen in Cardiff after a night out. The car, a white VW Tiguan, had been missing for 48 hours before it was discovered in the St Mellons area of Cardiff. The A48(M) has been closed in both directions by the police.

Leon Jeanne had a recent driving case in 2019, which was chillingly close to where his son’s crash took place. He was caught on camera from a bin lorry trying to force his way between two vehicles causing £2,500 worth of damage to a Renault Clio he shunted from behind.

He was given an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months and ordered to comply with a 12-week curfew. He was also disqualified from driving for two years. In 2017, he was embroiled in a hammer bust-up after his son chased another man in a car.

Photographs from the crash site show that large green fencing and tarpaulin have been erected around the crash site, which is among trees.

People have started arriving to leave floral tributes to those who died. A Gwent Police spokeswoman has confirmed that three of those who were reported missing have been found deceased, and two have been taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The case has been referred to the IOPC in line with normal procedures.
