First Update: Finch Hatton, Investigating a Sudden Death

After investigations into the death of a 69-year-old Finch Hatton lady on July 4, 2022, Queensland Police have charged a 37-year-old North Rockhampton man.

According to police, the 69-year-old Finch Hatton lady was hit by the car at 6 o’clock when the 37-year-old male was allegedly trying to take it from a Boulder Street property.

Shortly after emergency personnel got on the site, the lady had already been confirmed dead after suffering catastrophic injuries.

The North Rockhampton man, 37, has been charged with unauthorised use of a motor vehicle, entering a building and committing the crime, and operating a vehicle in a hazardous manner that caused death as a result of the investigation into the event.

On March 8, he is scheduled to appear in Mackay Magistrates Court.

The officer in Charge of the Mackay Criminal Investigation Branch, Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Eaton, lauded the efforts of the officers and detectives who contributed to the seven-month inquiry.
