EU dispatches rescue personnel to Turkey after a fatal earthquake

After a big earthquake struck Turkey and Syria, the European Union is sending rescue teams and arranging further aid for Turkey, according to the bloc’s crisis management commissioner.

Commissioner Janez Lenarcic tweeted that teams from the Netherlands and Romania are already their route, with the EU’s Emergency Response Coordination Centre overseeing their deployment.

He stated that the bloc’s Civil Protection Mechanism had been activated in response to the earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria, devastating fatalities and destruction in both nations.

Additionally, the EU and Hungary reach an agreement for 18 billion in Ukraine aid.

According to his office, Turkey has asked EU assistance.

Several EU countries, notably those of French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, have committed assistance.

Belgium, Poland, Spain, and Finland all stated that they were prepared to deploy teams and offer assistance.
