In an exciting development, legendary musician Elton John received his first-ever Emmy nomination for his Disney+ variety program, Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium.
If he wins, he will be one step closer to achieving the coveted EGOT status.

Viola Davis recently joined the elite group of EGOT winners, becoming the latest addition to a list that currently comprises only 18 individuals.
Davis embarked on her EGOT journey by earning a Tony Award for her outstanding performance in King Hedley II in 2001.
She later won an Emmy for her role in the TV drama How to Get Away with Murder in 2015.
Her best supporting actress Oscar win for Fences in 2016 left her needing only a Grammy to complete the set.
Earlier this year, Davis secured a Grammy for the best audiobook category with her autobiography, Finding Me, officially becoming an EGOT holder.

Elton John is on the brink of achieving EGOT status, needing only an Emmy to complete the prestigious quartet.
With five Grammy Awards under his belt, his journey started with That’s What Friends Are For.
In 1994, he received an Oscar for Best Original Song for Can You Feel the Love Tonight.
His Tony Award came in 2000 for his work on the Aida score.
With his recent Emmy nomination for Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium in the Best Variety Special (Live) category, he could become the 19th EGOT recipient if he emerges victorious.

Alternate Versions of EGOT
Some individuals have been referred to as PEGOT holders, but there are differing interpretations of what the “P” stands for.
Some believe it represents the prestigious Peabody Award, recognizing those who have used their creative skills to deliver impactful storytelling or news coverage in service of the public.
By this definition, Mike Nichols and Rita Moreno would be considered PEGOT recipients.
However, others argue that the “P” signifies a Pulitzer Prize, awarded to exceptional writers and journalists.
Under this interpretation, Richard Rodgers and Marvin Hamlisch would be acknowledged as PEGOT achievers.
