Ed Sheeran officially reaches 100 million followers on Spotify

The most Spotify followers are now officially held by British musician Ed Sheeran. With 100 million fans, the Thinking Out Loud singer surpasses Grammy winners Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber, and Canadian rapper Drake.

On Tuesday, July 26, the world’s largest streaming service, Spotify, congratulated Ed Sheeran on achieving 100 million app users.

The 31-year-old received a t-shirt from Spotify as thanks for the outstanding accomplishment. Ed Sheeran displayed his present to the tour personnel at his venue while performing in Europe, but alas, nobody seemed to be interested.

“Absolutely mental. What an achievement Ed. Congrats,” the streaming giant wrote in their tweet.

The number of Spotify recordings for Ed Sheeran’s number-one hits is extensive. According to Culturess, Sheeran’s tune, Shape of You, has the most Spotify streams in 2021.

The song has received more than 3 billion streams, and it appears that no other artist has reached the mark. With 2.6 billion streams, Blinding Lights by The Weeknd, a global success, came close. In fact, the song was the Canadian’s fifth number-one hit.

Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran was the first song to exceed 500 million Spotify streams in 2015.
