Durban beachfront automobile accidents caused by a drunk truck driver

Wednesday, a truck driver was arrested for drunk driving after he collided with multiple cars along the Durban shoreline.

The truck driver and his companion were intoxicated.
Before the incident, the truck driver and a friend were allegedly observed drinking on the beach.

Metro Police bicycle officers observed the vehicle parked near the Pirates Lifesaving Club, according to police officials. The truck was registered in Zambia with a logistics business.

While the team attempted to remove the alcohol from the vehicle, the driver fled and collided with at least seven other vehicles along the beachfront.

The man was accused with driving under the influence, as well as dangerous and negligent driving, according to the Metro Police.

Officials from the uMhlathuze Local Municipality confiscated considerable quantities of alcohol from Richards Bay’s Alkantstrand Beach.

According to Christo Botha, the councilmember for Ward 2, alcohol was never permitted at Alkantstrand.

In addition, he stated that contracted security firms coordinated with senior municipal officials to ensure compliance with city ordinances.

The Metropolitan police encouraged beachgoers not to consume alcohol.
