The 73-year-old Dragon’s Den star claimed online that he and his company Bannatyne Group have instructed employees to reduce pool temperatures due to skyrocketing energy bills, adding that some of his operating expenses have at least quadrupled.
Twitter users stated that some of the 69 pools now operated by the organisation were ‘frozen,’ with one claiming, ‘Plenty of people have complained but nothing has changed.’
Mr. Bannatyne replied, “My swimming pool temperature is set to 28 degrees Celsius, which is surely not too cold for use.
They were lowered by 1 degree in an effort to combat the energy crisis. Other clubs have shuttered swimming pools or spas. In the coming months, many clubs and recreational facilities will close.
