The medicine Paxlovid, which some health professionals and even President Joe Biden hailed as America’s panacea against COVID-19, may not be effective for those who have previously received the vaccine.
After testing positive, then negative, then positive again, Fauci, 81, stated at a conference on Tuesday that he is now taking the medication for a second time.
Fauci said last week that his symptoms of the virus started on June 14 and that he tested positive the next day.
He received a prescription for Paxlovid the following day and started taking it.
At a Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee meeting last Thursday to discuss an update on the ongoing Federal response to COVID-19, Fauci stated, “I’m still feeling really pretty well.”

A research from the University of California San Diego School of Medicine published on June 22 found that COVID-19 rebound symptoms occur because not enough Paxlovid was reaching infected cells to completely inhibit viral reproduction.
This is referred to in the study as a lack of drug exposure.
Depending on a person’s risk profile and immunization status, the drug’s capacity to prevent hospitalization or death was examined in the Phase 2/3 trial data released by the pharmaceutical behemoth based in New York City.
A completely immunized individual with minimal personal risk was found to have nothing to gain from utilizing the medicine.
