A DoorDash driver is being criticized for video himself eating a customer’s burrito after receiving a meager 50-cent tip.
In a TikTok video, the unidentified driver, who publishes under the moniker @doordashtips3, opens the DoorDash bag and begins eating the Chipotle order as a form of retaliation.
“Delicious, delicious,” he exclaims as he chews into the item. “Thank you, customer of DoorDash!”
Many people were appalled by the brazen act, and some called for the man’s dismissal.
One lady said on the video, which has been viewed over 242,000 times, “This is disgusting and gives the rest of us Dashers a bad name.”
“Delicious!” he exclaims as he chews into the tortilla. “Thank you, customer of DoorDash!”
“Because you never know what the driver will do to your food, I never use DoorDash,” chimed in another.
This is not the first time the user has penalized a bad tipper, as other videos on his profile depict him refusing to pick up orders without tips. Some critics, however, have questioned the validity of the videos and feel they are a publicity stunt.
“These videos are obviously fake, as they seal the bags for delivery,” stated one user.
However, another individual pointed out that even if it is a social media stunt, it may inspire others to do the same.
The user wrote, “This may not be real, but he now has actual DoorDash drivers doing it.”
The issue of undertipping food delivery drivers is a popular topic on TikTok, with drivers frequently expressing their displeasure with the lack of tips they receive on orders.
One UberEats driver called out clients for “tip baiting,” the practice of offering a hefty tip when the order is placed, only to reduce it once the meal has been delivered.
