After being caught on camera racially insulting a guy at a Taco Bell and shouting at him, “This ain’t India,” a Californian man has been charged with a hate crime.
On August 21, Singh Tejinder, 37, of Union City met Krishnan Jayaraman at a Taco Bell in Fremont, California.
He is seen approaching Jayaraman and calling him a “filthy Hindu,” repeatedly using the N-word, and claiming Jayaraman was a vegetarian while shouting obscenities at him.
Hey, pick up your bean burrito and go out, he said. You must be a vegetarian. You avoid eating meat. You must consume meat. You Indians need to consume meat, Jayaraman said.
Tejinder, whose nationality is listed as “Asian/Indian” in the criminal paperwork, was captured on camera exclaiming, “F****, this ain’t India! You messed up India, and now you’re messing up America.

Tejinder singled out Krishnan Jayaraman and verbally and racially assaulted him.
He was told by Tejinder, “You’re a horrible dog. You seem awful. Don’t make a public appearance like this ever again.
Jayaraman called 911 while waiting inside to prevent exiting and starting a fight.
He said that the encounter had terrified him and that finding out the attacker’s race had angered him.
He said to NBC News, “I was afraid, to be honest with you.”
“On the one hand, I was furious, but on the other, I was afraid that what if this person becomes too irate and then comes after me?”
For more than eight minutes, Tejinder insulted and yelled at Jayaraman, at one time brandishing a wad of cash.
According to the Fremont Police Department, Tejinder was charged on Monday with a hate crime that violated civil rights, assault, and disturbing the peace with profanity.
The acts in the video, according to Taco Bell, are “troubling, disturbing, and not consistent with the brand’s inclusive principles to respect and welcome customers of all backgrounds,” the company stated in a statement after becoming aware of the event.
