Doctors put 1,000 stitches in a six-year-old girl’s face and neck after she was viciously torn apart by a pit bull

A pit bull viciously attacked six-year-old Lily Norton in her hometown of Chesterville, Maine on February 18, resulting in 1,000 stitches to her face and neck.

Lily is still in intensive care and in critical condition following an 11-hour surgery performed by specialist surgeons at Boston Children’s Hospital to repair the dog bites to her face and throat.

The attack happened as Lily was playing a card game with a friend at her neighbor’s house, where the friend’s mother was reportedly looking after the female pit bull.

The dog attacked Lily as soon as she sat down to play, and her friend’s mother, who was in the bathroom at the time, heard her daughter screaming and rushed out to find Lily with the dog.

Lily’s parents hope for her speedy recovery from her injuries. A GoFundMe fundraiser has generated over USD 20,000 to help the Norton family with their travel expenses.

Authorities in the area are investigating the incident, and Lily’s mother is reportedly looking to have the pit bull put down.
