Discovery announced on Thursday a three-year partnership with Netball South Africa as the official wellness partner of the Spar Proteas, ahead of the 2022 Netball World Cup. This partnership will cater to the team’s physical, emotional, and financial wellness.
The official announcement was made by the CEO of Discovery Bank in South Africa, Hylton Kallner, who expressed his delight in joining forces with the entire netball squad.
“Today, we are announcing not just one new ambassador, but an entire team of ambassadors,” stated Kallner.
“Therefore, I am thrilled to announce the South African national netball team as official Discovery brand ambassadors.
“The team itself is representative of the entire South African netball community. Nationally, netball is the most popular sport among women and girls. We have heard about soccer monks, but as a netball father, I can say that this is the most popular sport in South Africa.
Kallner then elaborated on their motivation for sponsoring Netball SA, expressing his excitement for the highly anticipated worldwide tournament.
“We anticipate the Netball World Cup, which will take place in Cape Town. This is something that we wanted to support as an organization – to support the team, the sport, and every woman and girl enjoying sports, to encourage them to get out and be physically active, and there is no better way to accomplish that than via sponsorship,” he added.
The Discovery Group also confirmed Vitality as the tournament’s title sponsor for the Netball World Cup. Discovery Limited is a subsidiary of Vitality.
The highly anticipated event, which occurs every four years, will be held from 28 July to 6 August at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
Pool C consists of the Spar Proteas, Jamaica, Wales, and Sri Lanka.
