Dick Caine faces 20 counts of historical sexual abuse

After 11 more accusations were brought, a well-known former swimming coach now faces 20 counts of historical sexual abuse.

Dick Caine, 76, is accused of abusing his female students who were young and between the ages of 10 and 24.

The most recent allegations concern several instances from the 1970s and another from 1992, when he was a successful swimming coach who helped athletes qualify for the Olympics and world championships.

It comes after charges were filed in June after he was discovered to have been abusing children in the 1970s at his Condell Park house.

On Tuesday, Caine appeared before Sutherland Local Court charged with seven counts of teaching carnal knowledge to girls between the ages of 10 and 17 as well as an additional four counts of indecently assaulting a female.

The accusations concern alleged abuse of three girls, ages 10 to 15, in the 1970s and a woman, then 24 years old, in 1992.

Following information regarding Caine’s alleged mistreatment last year, NSW Police set up Strike Force Coco to look into the matter.

Caine is near death.
