Dev Patel testifies to the stabbing in Adelaide

One of the witnesses to the horrifying stabbing outside an Adelaide gas station is Hollywood actor Dev Patel.

Just after 8:45 p.m. on Monday, the Slumdog Millionaire actor was observed speaking to police about a suspected stabbing of a man in the chest.

Just before the 34-year-old lady is believed to have stabbed the 32-year-old male on the street, witnesses had attempted to separate the two.

According to reports, the English actor and his girlfriend, Hotel Mumbai co-star Tilda Cobham-Hervey, are currently vacationing in South Australia.

Following reports of a couple fighting on the street, police were called to the scene at Gouger Street.

The 32-year-old was given medical attention by paramedics before being taken in critical condition to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

The woman has been detained and is facing charges of serious assault.

The 34-year-old man from Park Holme in the southwest of the city was turned down for bail so he could show up in court on Tuesday.

According to the police, the two are acquainted and the attack was not random.

While filming the drama Hotel Mumbai, which is based on a true tale, Patel and Cobham-Hervey first became acquainted in June 2016.

Survivor Mumbai, a 2009 documentary about the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel attacks in India in 2008, served as the inspiration for the Australian-American thriller.

Along with Nicholas Hoult, Daniel Kaluuya, and Joe Dempsie on Skins, Patel rose to fame. He later appeared in The Lion with Nicole Kidman.
