Derbyshire retirement complex incident critically injures woman

A woman is fighting for her life in the hospital after allegedly being attacked at a retirement community.

Derbyshire Police were dispatched to the Shirland Court retirement community in Shelton Lock, Derby, after doctors expressed worry over a woman’s injury.

In connection with the event that left the woman in critical condition, one male was arrested.

According to witnesses, officers were dispatched to the area on Friday and remained there till Sunday while investigations continue.

It is believed that there is no threat to the public at large.

Shirland Court is administered by Derby Homes, and according to the Elderly Accommodation Counsel’s Housing Care website, eleven individuals dwell in one-bedroom apartments.

It is unknown whether the injured woman is a local resident or a visiting.

A spokeswoman for Derby Homes stated in a brief statement, ‘We are aware of the issue.’

As this is the subject of an ongoing police investigation, we cannot comment further.

A Derbyshire police spokeswoman stated, “On Friday, October 21, we were approached by physicians who were concerned about injuries a woman had sustained at a residence on Shirland Court in Shelton Lock.”

She remains in critical but stable condition in the hospital, and detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding her injury.

A guy suspected of assault has been released on bail awaiting further investigation. Officers feel there is no danger to the general people.’
