The murder of an 11-year-old boy who was found injured near a country park and later passed away has been charged against a 41-year-old man.
Having been charged with murder, Michael Harrison, of Eaton Terrace, Nottingham, appeared today at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court.
Additionally, he is accused of using coercive and domineering tactics.
In a brief hearing at the magistrates’ court, the 41-year-old, who listed his residence as “no fixed abode,” was not required to enter a plea.
Before being remanded into detention, he merely spoke to confirm his name, address, and birthdate. Harrison will show up in court on Tuesday at Derby Crown Court.
On the afternoon of Saturday, June 18, the kid, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was discovered hurt close to Shipley Country Park in Derbyshire.
Ambulance teams were dispatched to Thorpes Road in Heanor, close to the park, according to police, after hearing that the 11-year-old had been hurt. Later that day, he passed away.
Following an investigation, Derbyshire police detained the 41-year-old last Thursday in relation to the boy’s passing.
Over the next few days, detectives from the East Midlands serious crime team and Derbyshire Constabulary will stay in the area to continue their investigations.
Additionally, they are looking for a white Vauxhall Combo van with the license plates FG57 FTO, FL54 JBJ, or FL54 JDJ.
There is currently no other information about the circumstances, but we will be releasing more witness appeals over the next few days, said a police spokesperson.
