Derby police station shooting Named ‘samurai-like sword’ wielder

A guy who infiltrated a guarded parking lot brandishing a “samurai-like sword” and was shot dead outside a police station has been identified.

After breaking into the Ascot Drive police station’s parking lot and breaking the windows of parked cars, Marius Ciolac, 35, was shot and killed on Friday, October 7.

Additionally, the freshly constructed £9.5 million police station’s glass was broken, according to Derbyshire Police, who also verified this.

The man’s family, who resided on Osmaston Road, had been notified, according to the police.

In a “unrelated incident,” forensic officers were seen on Saturday searching a home on the same road that backs up to the combined police and fire facility.

However, Ciolac registered a business called “Home Builders & Essential Electric” at the same address in 2020.

According to investigations by the Telegraph, police detectives had previously had difficulty identifying the individual, who was believed to be an Eastern European immigrant.

As is customary in situations like these, the police watchdog, The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), has opened an inquiry.

Officers saw Ciolac with a knife around 9.55 am, but he was shot dead at 10.03 am, according to the police.

He was transported in an ambulance to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, but he passed away there. No additional cops, employees, or members of the public were hurt.

Apparently the invader was originally Tasered but it didn’t overcome him so they had to fire, according to a local who remembered the event. The guy carried a weapon that was “like a samurai sword,” the local claimed.

A adjacent B&M shop was also evacuated as a result of the reports of shooting. Mark Baxter, a worker at a neighboring auto company, claims that he heard six bullets.

The 59-year-old said, “I was at reception with my colleague when there was suddenly a succession of booms.” ‘ We exchanged glances and realized right away that it wasn’t a vehicle backfiring. Two sudden explosions were followed by two subsequent shots, a brief pause, then two more gunfires.

“When we got outside, there were several police officers.” We saw that a police officer was holding a weapon over a person on the ground, and that the road had been closed off.

A client, according to Mr. Baxter, informed him the suspect had been shot in the police station’s front door.

“Do not allow anybody to pass the door under any circumstances,” a lady said as she hurried out of the police station. A second witness claimed to have seen cops remove a knife from the road.

According to a neighbor who spoke to DerbyshireLive, the individual who was residing in the home that forensic officials were searching had just recently moved there.

The Ascot Drive police station’s glass entrance was broken, and there were also blood-stained garments and medical equipment seen in drone footage.

A pair of black boots and a jacket looked to be on the road near the gates, and they were encircled by bandages, tourniquets, and open syringe packages.

The shooting happened in front of the brand-new, multi-million dollar police station that only just began operations.

In April, the new police station joined Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service at Ascot Drive.
