In Boston, the daughter of House Minority Whip Katherine Clark was arrested on suspicion of spray-painting anti-police graffiti and assaulting a police officer.
During a protest on Saturday, police said that 23-year-old Riley Dowell spray-painted “NO COP CITY” and “ACAB” — an acronym for “all cops are bastards” — on the Parkman Bandstand Monument in Boston Common.
Dowell, who is non-binary and was identified by police as “Jared Dowell,” was being apprehended for vandalism when “about 20 protesters surrounded” the arresting officers.
My daughter was detained in Boston, Massachusetts, last night. I adore Riley, and this is a particularly difficult period in the cycle of parental happiness and suffering.

The protestors allegedly shouted obscenities over megaphones in the roadway while surrounding the arresting cops and blocking traffic.
During the tense standoff, according to Boston police, “an officer was struck in the face and was seen bleeding from the nose and mouth.”
Dowell, a resident of Melrose, was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, destruction or harm of personal property, and graffiti/tagging-related property damage.
Sunday on Twitter, Clark recognized her daughter’s imprisonment.
She tweeted, “Last night, my daughter was arrested in Boston, Massachusetts.” “I adore Riley, and this is a particularly challenging moment in the cycle of parental happiness and suffering. This will be assessed by the legal system, and I have faith in that procedure.”
It was anticipated that Dowell will be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
