Christina Lee Powell, 39, is declared missing by Texas cops

The mother of a San Antonio lady who inexplicably vanished last week while travelling to work claims that police took up to three days to declare her missing.

Christina Lee Powell, 39, was last seen leaving her home at 10:34 a.m. on July 5 on a Ring doorbell video after calling her paralegal employer to let them know she would be late.

Powell, who was operating a black 2020 Nissan Rouge that is also gone, allegedly rushed to get to work after the long weekend and left her iPhone, medication, and Apple Watch at home.

Powell resides in the tranquil Apple Creek neighbourhood with her two young sons and her mother, Claudia Mobley, who is 70 years old and claimed to have noticed nothing out of the ordinary the morning Powell vanished.

We didn’t really have any lengthy discussions. Basically, it said, “Good morning.”

She informed me she was running late,’ she recounted.

Then, when she was heading out for work, I warned her to use caution. I’m sure I also told her, “I love you.”

Additionally, Mobley claimed that she called the police on July 6 and that an officer came to the house to take a report; nevertheless, it took another two or three days before her daughter was formally declared missing.

After contacting the San Antonio Police Department, DailyMail.com received no immediate response.

Powell’s department-issued missing person poster is dated July 9, which is three days after Mobley’s initial call to police and four days after Powell was last seen.

Mobley claimed that when her daughter left the house, she left her iPhone on the bathroom counter, and that later, someone in the family found her Apple Watch hidden someplace in the house.

Additionally, Mobley claimed that she saw her daughter leave the house in a black Nissan, both of which are now missing.

While Powell isn’t typically in such a rush to leave for work, there wasn’t much else out of the ordinary about the morning, according to her.

According to Mobley, “I thought she was going, I thought she was going to work, and I guess she thought she was going to work.”

A “Be On The Lookout” notice has been issued for Powell’s missing vehicle, according to the San Antonio Police Department, which also confirmed that its missing persons unit is looking into the case.

Powell, who has blonde hair and brown eyes, is described in the missing people poster as being five feet two and weighing 120 pounds.

She was last seen driving a black Nissan SUV with the license plate PYJ-8564, wearing black leggings, a black shirt, and carrying a white purse.

Powell has two boys that are three and twelve years old.

She was married at least once in 2013, according to Bexar County Records, but it was unclear what her current marital status was or how she was parenting the two sons at the time.

In 2018, Powell shared a picture of herself and her oldest son with a banner encouraging awareness of domestic violence on Facebook.

On June 10, she posted a “puppy update” on social media featuring images of her two dogs, Oliver and Chevy.

According to posts on social media, Powell is from New Haven, Connecticut, and has a psychology degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

After Independence Day, when the mother was last seen leaving her home in a quiet suburban cul-de-sac in San Antonio’s Apple Creek area, the mother’s puzzling absence began to take shape.

Powell’s friend Leal claims that the young mother called the law company where the paralegal she works for to let them know she would be late that morning, July 5.

Soon after 10:30 a.m., Powell can be seen leaving her house quickly while toting a white purse over her shoulder on Ring doorbell video from her residence.

However, Powell’s pals claim that when she hurried to work, she appeared to have forgotten her phone and watches at home.

They claim that she also left behind necessary drugs.

Powell is missing and considered to be in danger, according to the police, who claim that she has a medical issue that has to be treated by a doctor.

Since that morning, the young mother has not been seen or heard from.

She commutes around 7 miles and takes a little over 15 minutes to get to work, which is close to I-10 and Vance Jackson Road.

Powell’s friends and relatives have driven her likely route to work several times in the week since she vanished, looking for evidence of a collision.

They have also looked in nearby hospitals and even the county jail, but so far they haven’t found any information concerning the whereabouts of the young mother.

The most terrifying aspect, according to family friend Lauren Leal, is the unknown. Right now, I can only think of fear.

“It is difficult to comprehend where she might be and what might have occurred.”

Leal told the neighborhood CBS affiliate, “We just want you home.”

Leal admitted, “My concern is never knowing anything.”

The worst scenario, in my opinion, is spending the rest of my life trying to find her. I’m not going to give up.

Chrissy Powell’s case is being investigated by the SAPD Missing Persons Unit, which can be reached at 210-207-7660.
