In a startling incident at the CarFest in Hampshire, former Top Gear presenter Chris Evans, aged 57, caused a TukTuk to overturn, resulting in injuries to two female passengers.

Onlookers reported that Evans was executing daring ‘donuts’ in the automated rickshaw just before the accident occurred.

The festival, held at Laverstoke Park Farm near Basingstoke, witnessed the dramatic flip, with the DJ’s guests reportedly sustaining minor injuries.

A video captured an emergency ambulance racing to the scene while Evans, who recently disclosed his skin cancer diagnosis, assisted the injured passengers from the toppled vehicle.

Quick Response and a Familiar Face

Despite the dramatic incident, Chris Evans himself remained unharmed.

Witnesses at the scene observed him actively helping the passengers as they exited the overturned TukTuk.

Evans, dressed in a bright orange shirt and hat, knelt beside emergency personnel, engaging with one of the passengers.

Notably, another former Top Gear presenter, Richard Hammond, aged 52, was present at the event but was not involved in the accident.

CarFest’s Official Statement

CarFest, the organizers of the event, issued a statement acknowledging the TukTuk’s overturn but attributing it to Evans changing direction.

The statement mentioned that the two passengers had sustained minor injuries, with the CarFest on-site medical team promptly offering assistance.

Importantly, it clarified that Richard Hammond was not inside the vehicle at any point during the incident.

A History of Driving Incidents

This episode adds to Chris Evans’ history of driving mishaps, some of which were recorded during his tenure on the BBC show Top Gear.

His first appearance on the show included a crash involving a Jaguar that had been loaned to the program.

Subsequently, he left his role as the show’s frontman after only one series following the departures of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May in 2016.

Evans co-hosted the show alongside Irish former racing driver Eddie Jordan and Friends star Matt LeBlanc before being succeeded by Rory Reid.

At present, the show is hosted by Chris Harris and Paddy McGuinness.

It’s worth noting that former presenter Freddy Flintoff left the show after a dramatic crash that halted the filming of series 34.

The accident occurred at Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey, where Flintoff, a former professional cricketer, was hospitalized due to facial injuries and broken ribs.

The incident raised questions about the show’s future, exacerbated by the departure of its editorial director, Clare Pizey, just months after Flintoff’s accident, casting uncertainty over the program’s direction.
