At the close of last season, it was rumored that Chiefs were interested in Cape Town City’s brilliant Mduduzi Mdantsane, who is reportedly valued at roughly R18 million.

The 27-year-old has not had the best start to the season, but it was believed that he might provide the Chiefs’ attacking midfielders with some much-needed talent.

According to KickOff.com, Chiefs and Sekhukhune rekindled their interest in Mdantsane late in the transfer window, but neither team could match the transfer fee requirements.

According to the most recent issue of Soccer Laduma, Cape Town City will exercise Mdantsane’s one-year contract option, making it doubtful that Chiefs will be able to obtain his services when his current contract expires in June of this year.

If the Chiefs were serious about signing the 28-year-old, they would have to negotiate a transfer fee; nevertheless, the odds are not in their favor.

In the second of two major announcements made last month, Chiefs completed the signing of a pre-contract in order to acquire left-sided central defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe from SuperSport United. He will shortly be joined at Naturena by Amakhosi debutant Christian Saile Basomboli.

In other news, Khama Billiat is unlikely to continue with Chiefs after this season, and a move overseas is a possibility, according to persistent rumors.

Billiat, a former PSL Player of the Year, has endured a turbulent period of ups and downs at Kaizer Chiefs since joining the club from Sundowns in 2018.

Injuries and poor play have stopped Chiefs fans from consistently witnessing Billiat’s best, and his current deal is scheduled to expire in June.

Billiat may have already been offered to Al-Ahli, the Saudi Arabian club managed by Pitso Mosimane, according to a report that appeared in the Sunday World over the weekend.

The popular coach lured the midfielder to Mamelodi Sundowns in 2013, so Mosimane and Billiat are certainly familiar with one another.

This is certainly a story to keep an eye on, as a Sunday World source claims that “his [Billiat’s] contract will not be renewed [by Chiefs] in any way, shape, or form.”
