Kaizer Chiefs Reserves defeats SuperSport United Reserves 4-2 from behind

In a thrilling DStv Diski Shield game played at Wits Stadium on Sunday, Kaizer Chiefs Reserves defeated SuperSport United Reserves 4-2 after coming from behind.

In the sixth minute of the game, Tendamudzimu Matodzi scored the game’s opening goal for SuperSport United. Aiden McCarthy for the Chiefs equalized the score in the 11th minute. When in-form Wandile Duba scored an unplanned goal for the Glamour Boys to make it 2-1 in the 25th minute, Chiefs seized the lead. Ten minutes later, Duba doubled the lead for Amakhosi with a fantastic goal from outside the area to make it 3-1.

Amakhosi led when the teams entered the halftime break.

When Matodzi scored again for the Pretoria team in the 58th minute to make it 3-2, the young Matsatsantsa grabbed one back to make the second half equally intriguing. Puso Dithejane, an Amakhosi substitution for the second half, quickly reacted to make it 4-2.

Duba, who took home the top goal scorer honor at the Engen tournament last weekend, was given the Diski Shield for his efforts.

The Chiefs Reserves have been drawn to play the Mamelodi Sundowns Reserves in the top 8 competition semifinal next weekend.

Other semi-finalists are Chippa United and Stellenbosch Reserve sides.

Venues and kick off times will be confirmed soon.
