Letitia Wright believes that “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” “beautifully” pays tribute to the late actor Chadwick Boseman.
The 28-year-old actress reprises her role as Shuri in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) sequel and believes Ryan Coogler’s blockbuster is the appropriate memorial to Chadwick, who played the lead role in the first film and died in 2020 at the age of 43 following a fight with colon cancer.
Wright told The Playlist that it was difficult for him to envision being on set without his brother. It was an issue I struggled with for months.
“The confidence that Ryan sensed Chadwick instilling in him gave him a subtle push forward to continue. Chad would have wanted us to continue, based on how Ryan would explain that it was more than all of us.
“That truly inspired me. I am filled with confidence. I love Ryan.”
The “Death on the Nile” actor continued, “I can’t wait for you all to see the film and how beautifully we honored Chad.”
Wright described how the actors and crew sacrificed everything for the blockbuster film in remembrance of Boseman.
She stated, “We honored him by devoting ourselves to the story he began, the legacy he began with this company, and we vowed to working hard every day, regardless of the circumstances. And we faced numerous obstacles. We invested all on this film.”
Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, has termed the planned November release as a “tribute” to Chadwick Boseman.
He said: “It’s a very important thing that ‘Wakanda Forever’ not only brings the same level of joy and inspiration that the first ‘Black Panther’ film did, but it also is a tribute to what he did, and what he brought not= just to us, but to the world.”
